History of Norwex

Microfiber was invented by a team of doctors & scientists who wanted to clean Operating Rooms more effectively.
In 1993, a team of doctors & scientists from Sweden were determined to come up with an alternative to chemical cleaning that could be used in surgical units as well as other areas of the hospital.
Chemical residues contain protein, which is food for bacteria. Because of this, they found that when cleaning with chemicals, not all germs and bacteria were killed on surfaces. It ALWAYS left behind residues that attracted more dust, germs and bacteria. This resulted in the surface quickly becoming dirty again.
The doctors/scientists thought it would be more effective to try and REMOVE the bacteria with just water rather than trying to kill bacteria with chemicals. Thus Microfiber was born!
The Microfiber Cloth proved so effective that very quickly, most hospitals in Norway & Sweden began to clean with it. Today, one in three homes in Norway & Sweden clean with some form of microfiber.
In 1999, a Norwegian woman introduced her sister, Gerd Doroshuk, to these microfiber cloths. When returning home to Canada, Gerd showed the cloth to a friend, Debbie Bolton (current CEO of Norwex). The two women immediately saw the huge potential in selling this product in North America so they started Norwex Enviro Products, Inc.
Today there are just over 1,000 consultants in the U.S. but the majority are located in the Northern, border states. There is great potential to share our fabulous products with areas of the U.S. where Norwex is still virtually unheard of.
One of Norwex's mottos is "Thinking Globally, Acting Globally." Help us improve our environment by telling others about a new & effective way of cleaning that will "radically reduce the amount of chemicals in personal care & cleaning!"
