The Wonders of Microfiber
Microfiber can reach into the tiniest crevices (even those in surfaces which appear smooth to the human eye) and scoop out hidden dirt and bacteria.

*Microfiber has a natural static charge that acts like a magnet to attract even the tiniest particles of dirt.
*Microfiber creates a capillary action that draws dirt, grime and bacteria into the center wedge-shaped areas of the cloth.
*By drawing bacteria to the center of the cloth, the transfer of germs to your hands and cross-contamination between surfaces is prevented.
How is Norwex® Microfiber different from other Microfiber?
The Antibacterial Microfiber Enviro Cloth contains 2.9 million meters of extremely fine fibers that are a blend of polyester and polyamide. These fibers are 1/100th the size of a human hair resulting in a microfiber that is up to 7 times finer than other retail microfibers. These fine fibers, combined with the right knitting process, create an extremely effective cleaning material. Instead of smearing dirt and grime across the surface, microfiber cloths act like bionic sponges that remove the dirt and bacteria to leave a clean, highly-polished surface.
Norwex® has also developed a unique technology that combines an antibacterial silver based agent with microfiber. (Patent Pending) The silver is embedded inside the tiny microfibers and these cloths have passed both FDA and EPA approval. Because the silver agent is part of the material, the antibacterial effect lasts the lifetime of the product.
SILVER FACTS
-
Silver promotes the production of new cells and increases the rate of wound healing.
-
Today many products are produced using silver to give antibacterial properties to that surface. Such as: silver antibacterial socks, silver soap, silver-lined curtains in hospitals, silver-lined bandages for treating burns, silver-lined band aids, silver toothbrushes, etc.
-
Silver is recognized as one of the most potent antidotes for food poisoning.
-
Silver has been claimed to kill some 650 different disease organisms.
-
According to experts, no microorganism ever tested has been able to stay alive for more than six minutes when exposed directly to silver.
In Clinical Studies: The Silver Care toothbrush head reduced the bacterial load by well over 80% over 24 hours, while the standard toothbrush had actually increased its bacterial load over that same time period.
HOW IT WORKS
Silver is a metal (not a chemical) with antibacterial and antimicrobial properties. Unlike antibiotics, Silver doesn’t choose which bacteria to kill, but effectively kills germs of all major types: bacteria, fungus/yeasts, viruses and protozoa parasites. It does this by disabling the enzyme that one-celled bacteria, viruses and fungi need for their oxygen metabolism.
Norwex® uses silver particles that have been reduced in size and integrated into our synthetic microfiber. The silver agent is irreversibly bound to a polymer, so it becomes a physical part of the fiber. It is permanent and performance does not diminish over time.
Because of the silver agent, Norwex® Microfiber does not allow bacterial and fungal growth within the cloth itself. This eliminates cross-contamination between surfaces or from a surface to your hands. The silver antibacterial agent will naturally eliminate the growth of odor-causing bacteria, resulting in instant odor reduction. Germs/bacteria cannot thrive or grow in the cloth.
THE RESULT
· Our silver agent was shown to begin breaking down bacteria immediately upon contact and to achieve a reduction better than 99% after 24 hours. Because the silver is integrated into the microfiber, the antibacterial effect lasts the lifetime of the product.
· The results of our testing show that bacteria in the microfiber itself were reduced by more than 99.9% after 24 hours, while a normal microfiber had a bacteria growth of 14,000.
· The Antibacterial agent within the microfiber has demonstrated its effectiveness again many strains of pathogenic bacteria, yeast, and viruses, for example:
-E. Coli -Staphylococcus aureus
-SARS -Streptococcus faecalis
-MRSA -Salmonella typhi
*Due to the nature of bacteria, all tests were conducted in a controlled environment, and may not be a 100% true representation of normal living environments. As such, it’s not known if the same results are true in an uncontrolled environment.
